This is another common question I get apart from project ideas and hackathon related queries. So in this article we will discuss on how to get an internship –
1. Build your skills
You must have seen this scene from AIB Campus Placement series
DON’T BE THOSE GUYS.
Try building up your skills by working on projects, taking certifications and attending workshops.
(blog post for this coming soon)
2. Show and tell
Once you think you have marketable skils it’s time to put them to the test. To do that you can participate in a [hackathon](http://bluescreen.club/2017/01/31/why-freshers-should-go-for-hackathons), makeathons, take sessions in geek meetups etc.
Many people are offered jobs/internship at these events based on their performance there.
So you can have fun, and get your life rolling.
3. Sharing is caring
Another great way to be noticed by companies is to **contribute to open source**.
Which is exactly what Github’s [Hacktober Fest](https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/) and Google’s [Summer of code](https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com) is all about.
This also gives you an opportunity to interact with people from around the world. You’ll also get a taste of where you stand on the international stage, which is kinda scary but a much-needed eye-opener.
4. Apply
Now that you have done all of the above, the final step would obviously be to apply to the companies in which you would like to work at.
There are several websites now that allow you to apply to companies, [Internshala ](https://internshala.com/)being on the top of the list. You can also start small and go to freelancing websites like fiver or freelancer and try your hand there.
